Help:Confirming your email address
Confirming Your Email Address
Confirming your email address ensures that you can submit a classification.
When you create an account, MediaWiki automatically attempts to send a verification link to your email address. However, if you did not receive the email or missed the sign-up prompt, you can resend or verify your email at any time using either method below.
---
Method 1: Via User Preferences (Recommended)
1. Log in to your account. 2. Click on **Preferences** in the top-right user menu (or navigate directly to Special:Preferences). 3. Ensure you are on the **User profile** tab. 4. Scroll down to the **Email options** section: '* **If unconfirmed:** You will see a button or link labeled **Confirm your email address**. Click it to send a new confirmation email. '* **If already confirmed:** It will state the date and time your address was verified. 5. Check your email inbox and click the verification link inside the email.
---
Method 2: Via Special:ConfirmEmail
If you prefer a direct link or have trouble finding the option in your settings:
1. Navigate directly to the confirmation page at Special:ConfirmEmail. 2. Click the **Mail a confirmation code** button. 3. Check your email inbox for a message containing a unique confirmation link. 4. Open the link to complete verification.

Troubleshooting: Didn't Receive the Email?
If the confirmation email does not arrive in your inbox after a few minutes, check the following:
- **Spam or Junk Folder:** Email providers sometimes filter automated messages. Check your spam, junk, or promotional folders.
- **Typo in Email Address:** Go back to Special:Preferences, check the **Email options** section, and verify that your email address was spelled correctly.
